ONGOING PROJECT
Lost Gods. My Best of Youth
(From a chat with a friend) I simply have a certain personal urge to make photographs that are a bit more, say, “emotional”, dense of sense, referring the observer to something else… Therefore, I’m organising a collection of portraits of those friends whose face possesses a certain expressive force. The theme I am trying to stick with is how we are getting through this youth phase of our late 20s within our social context: who are we and what do we feel while we are seeking out a job, a stability in life, a sentimental relationship, a place where to live? The people I am involving all come from Anzio and Nettuno (Rome, Italy) because, given the same cultural background, they all live this collective generational cataclysm with nearly the same (lack of) preparation. They must look strong, confident, like gods and goddesses, yet these gods and goddesses must have lost a bit of their strength along the way, as much as we have somehow lost some kind of certainty/reference during our late 20s. Hence the title “Lost Gods”. Then, since you’re all friends of mine and since I am deeply involved in the whole idea as well, here is the subtitle “My best of youth”.
